friday soap giveaway: Pumpkin Spice!

My daughter calls these "Monkey Tail soaps."

Okay, okay, so it's almost Saturday. My soap giveaways are starting later and later in the day on Fridays, I've noticed. But I have a fairly good excuse: Tomorrow is the first of the big holiday craft shows in Northern AZ, and I'm doing what I always do the night before - staying up way too late boxing up soaps and loading the truck. At least the weather's gorgeous this year. I remember one year our old truck got a flat tire and my husband was out in the snow late the night before a big show with the jack and a none-too-pleased expression on his face.
But I digress. This week's soap giveaway is a yummy-smelling bar of Pumpkin Spice. I'm bringing a bunch of these tomorrow, since they always do well at this time of the year.

If you'd like to throw your hat into the ring for a chance to win this bar, simply leave a comment to this post telling me the short version of one of your favorite Thanksgiving memories. I know, I used to just GIVE these things away. Now I'm making you work for it.
:-)

  2. YAY, I'm the first comment! Favorite Thanksgiving memory: The last Thanksgiving we were ALL together as a family (2003). I lost my grandmother in 2004 and lost my dad in 2006. I'd love to win one of your yummy soaps, so throw my name in the mix! Happy Saturday!

  3. Oh! Too Cute! And pumpkin spice is one of my favorite scents.

My favorite Thanksgiving memory is going to my grandparents for dinner and then playing games ALL afternoon until we would warm leftovers up for supper. I miss my Grandparents.

  5. Hi! Please enter me in your contest for the pumpkin soap. I love soaps! One of my favorite Thanksgiving traditions is that we all stand around the dining table and list one thing we are thankful for. Thanks, Cindi

  7. Ahh well. I just noticed the short essay :) LOL

My favorite thanksgiving memories is of my grandmother cooking for us. She made the most fablous cakes and cookies. I would help her all day the day before using her old cookie press lay out all the cookies. I can still smell it. I miss her horribly and thanksgiving always is a reminder.

    Im bloggin ya too :)

Well, I know it's Saturday but since you only alloted an hour and ten minutes (PST) Friday, I figure it's fair...and since no other comments are posted (likely means you're out and haven't approved them), I can't resist what is most likely a futile attempt to be the one and only contestant :)

One of my favorite Thanksgiving memories--there are many to choose from--was the time in my adolescence when I decided to make a meal out of the pre-meal appetizers, namely a can of black olives. Olives, being my most favorite food in the world, I didn't think could do me wrong. I emptied the contents of the can into my mouth...and my stomach proceeded to empty its contents. I've since built up a tolerance for the salty gems (probably can down a quart or more no problem), but that Thanksgiving was my initiation. Thankfully, though, I was still able to consume the turkey with all the trimmings...or at least most of them :)

Tough choice! I'm going to go recent, though - we have no family near and so never seem to have anyone to invite for Thanksgiving. I spoke with a former coworker who lives with her single daughter, a couple of days before Thanksgiving last year. I asked what their plans were and she didn't have any - thought maybe they'd go to a restaurant. Yikes! We invited them spur of the moment, the kids were SO excited to have guests, and I felt like we'd rescued someone from a restaurant Thanksgiving - lol! oh yeah - and our guests had a good time too ;)

I was due with our second child on November 26th. That just happened to be Thanksgiving Day in 1998. Our son decided to arrive on Monday, the 23rd. The hospital released me on Wednesday, the 24th. There was no way I was going to be able to make Thanksgiving meal for us and I couldn't/wouldn't travel for four hours one way with a 3 day old baby. We had already bought everything to make Thanksgiving Dinner. My husband is very proficient in the kitchen, thanks to his Mother, and he made our Thanksgiving Dinner that year... turkey, stuffing, the whole shebang. It was delicious too!! He even cleaned up. I got to sit and relax... nurse the baby, nap, etc. while he made our dinner. I'll never forget it. He has helped me prepare many meals for gatherings since then but that was the first big dinner he has done by himself for us.
